Well it depends in the UK having anybody charge you in dollars would be a little strange. On more serious note it largely depends everywhere will deal with their subsription differently. Which school and where is it? Also having noticed your twelve my advice is give it a try before commiting, most people and clubs are well natured enough to let you "try before you buy" so to speak. Also most instructors I know tend to teach for love of the art, not the money so the high rates do concern me, and this does seem a little steep. go down have a look if it doesn't seem worth it there are plenty of clubs around. You'll find somewhere that is not only well priced and good value for money.

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switerzland they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did they produce? The cuckoo clock

umm i'm 31 not 12, i think there mite have been a problem with the birthdate thing. i am seasoned i hold a 2nd dan in traditional okinawain shoryn ryu, but yes the steep price does concern me that's why i asked. they did give me one class and to tell you the truth it was pretty similar to the art i know, but i always wanted to try ninpo. as for looking around it's the only school in my area that's not a 3 to 4hr drive. i apologize i live in pennsylvania usa.

thank you for your reply i appreciate it

K the age thing is easily misinterpreted, sorry to assume you were a teenager. But they are usually head strong and commit before understanding what they might be getting into. As your seasoned martial artist you should know what to go with, trust your gut instinct, check http://www.winjutsu.com/ and http://www.ninjutsu.com/dojos-links.shtml to see whether the dojo is listed then it comes under the bujinkan ninpo-budo taijutsu. If not it may be dubious. I can't give you much more help without knowing the school or instructor. And sadly my knowledge of pennsylvania is limited. I'll do as much as I can to help you.

Why not get in touch with Doc Morris: http://www.hoshin.com/home.htm

If anyone knows anybody who does anything like ninpo in your area, he probably will!

If the class you went to didn't differ much from your Okinawan stuff, it probably wasn't Ninpo. Having said that, of the good Okinawan stuff I've seen - and by that I mean the original combat stuff and not the watered down Karate taught to 'twelve year olds' (te he!) - there are similarities. Then again - maybe i just thought it was good because of the similatities...

Anyhoo, the Doc might be able to help if those sites Matt suggested don't come up with anything... Even if he can't point you in the direction of any Ninpo in your area, there might be a Hoshin class (which is, to my mind, as good as...)
