Yeah, although it has this quirky thing of the language, and none of us really even hit amateur status in our japanese so all we know is how other folks have translated it, another way of translating gyaku I've come across is reverse or mirror, which just starts getting plane confusing!
Use the name, remember however your mind chooses to remember, if its thingy with a thingy, thats fine providing you know which thingy your on about and try to remember the japanese.
