Following on from my other topic (serious training books) I thought I'd open one with the same idea, but for good fiction books people have read that in some way (although the link can be pretty tenuous if you like) link in with Ninja, Training, Martial arts, Meditation, Japan, etc. etc, or just things you think people at training would really enjoy.

Once again I'll start the ball rolling with:

The "Tales of the Otori" Trilogy, By Lian Hearn.

The Trilogy follows the life of Takeo, a youth struggling with his mixed heritage, the violence that pursues him because of it, and the decisions that it brings. Should he follow the ways of the tribe (basically ninja clans with mystical powers), the Samurai heritage he is adopted into, or the Ways of the hidden, the peace loving, worshipful peasants he was born into. Part ninja action story, part a story about the trials of love and of life, its well worth a read. oh, and no, unfortunately we can't teach you the ninja powers at training (though if I'm wrong and Karle can then I'm first in line!

The three books are: "Across the Nightingale Floor", "Grass for his pillow" and "Brilliance of the Moon", you can get them all from amazon, or if someone else makes a post on here and I like the sound of the book then a borrowing trade could be arranged.....
